Threaded insert
Produit
Cylindrical part obtained by turning several times with the aim of producing a standard external and internal thread, i.e. threads of which the dimensions correspond to international standards. The threaded insert can then be put into a component to either reinforce it or to allow the insertion (with a screw) of a second component into the insert's internal thread.
3-hole threaded insert
Produit
Cylindrical part obtained by turning several times in the aim of producing an external and internal thread. As well as this, three holes are drilled on the outside in order to cut the materials in which the insert is placed through self-tapping. The threaded insert with 3 holes can either be put into a plastic or metal assembly to reinforce it or can allow the insertion (with a screw) of a second component into the insert's internal thread.
Intervis
Produit
An INTERVIS is a cylindrical part obtained by turning several times with the aim of creating an external and internal thread. The INTERVIS also has a lengthways slot that allows it to be fitted via self-tapping. This means that the INTERVIS can be put into a component either to reinforce it or to allow the insertion (with a screw) of a second component into the insert's internal thread.

Choosing the right threaded insert

Different inserts suit different applications and requirements.

There are various reasons one might use a threaded insert in an assembly:

  • Repairs: replacing damaged or non-existent threads and strengthening the assembly's resistance at the same time.
  • Fastening on soft materials: ensuring the part stays fastened in different materials such as composite materials, light alloys or compressed wood. Traditional internal threads (taps) are less reliable in this case
  • Instant anchoring: creating resistant and durable threads in the material without any extra tools or pre-tapping during the install.

In order to decide on a threaded insert, it is important to take such factors into account, while also considering the application environment and materials in question - as well as any possible mechanical stresses, accessibility, and obstruction. Once all that is done, you will need to decide between:

Why use a 3-hole threaded insert?

The 3-hole threaded STHC insert is a conventional insert with three added holes, allowing any metal chips produced during the assembly process to be evacuated.

This thread insert with holes is a useful alternative to standard thread inserts, recommended for applications involving small heights and thicknesses.

Our 3-hole insert offers the following advantages:

  • The insert's three openings allow metal chips to escape easily during the install process, making for clean and precise threading.
  • With their compact design, these inserts are ideal for narrow and hard-to-reach environments.
  • Reliable fastening in hard or medium-hard materials thanks to our in-house design, specially conceived to limit any loosening under stress.

These inserts require a pre-drilled hole before fitting, but not any tapping, making them highly resistant.
